Creating a unique reclaimed lumber headboard design is as easy as looking for a shape that inspires you. I just love the texture against the equally textured drywall!
Nan started looking for inspiration early on, and found a few headboards that mimicked what basic shape she had in mind.
She screwed some cedar planks to hardboard, created a stencil traced onto newspaper, transferred her design onto the hardboard, and cut out the works with a jigsaw. Amazing! So, so amazing.
What caught my attention while reading her tutorial was the info on finding the right jigsaw blade that will handle curves well. I will indeed be shopping for one!
A super great tutorial of all these steps is on Nan's blog,
