So, you're back from the beach with all these shells... why not make a beautiful beach styled seashell butterfly specimen art project? You'll love this one!
Jessica wanted to do something special to the colourful coquina shells her daughter deemed as butterflies, collected from a recent beach vacation. Inspired by the shape of the shells, she mimicked a butterfly specimen styled picture out of them.
Using the cardboard that comes with a picture frame as a template, chosen paper was traced to fit into a picture frame. The coquina shells were then glued face down onto the paper. Tip: the shells can be turned the other way as well... which looks even MORE like butterflies! The tutorial link below shows both ways, check it out!
What I LOVE about this:
Specimen styled art captures your eye in a unique way. The organized lines draw you right in. The fact that these butterflies are really shells spells summer in two very special ways. It's beautiful and oh so unexpected!
Just gotta add... the photography in this tutorial is outstanding and well worth your visit for that fact alone. Get ready to pin and try this one!
